If you want to try it yourself
- Use a sturdy ladder on level ground, set at a safe angle, and never lean out to reach. If you do not feel steady, do not climb.
- Wear gloves and scoop debris into a bucket, then flush with a hose to check the water flows to the downspout.
- Clear the downspout opening. A clog there backs the water up even when the gutter looks clean.
- Look for sagging sections, loose brackets, or standing water after you rinse. Those are repair jobs, not cleaning.
