If you want to try it yourself
- Start with the hinges. Tighten every hinge screw. A sagging door is often just loose screws, and this fixes many sticking doors with a screwdriver.
- If it still rubs, find the tight spot. Slide a pencil or a strip of paper along the edge to see where it binds, then mark it.
- Sand or plane only that spot, then seal the bare wood with paint or primer so it does not swell later.
- If the door will not latch, check where the latch meets the strike plate. Moving the plate a little often fixes it.
